About the image:

This mother cheetah and her two cubs had been feeding on an impala in the afternoon rain.  Cheetahs cannot typically defend their kills against scavengers, but on this evening there was only a lone jackal looking for scraps, not a serious threat.  Momma chased him off a few times, and then this dominant cub took over, chasing a canine twice its size across the plains.  It was very impressive and enormously entertaining to watch.  After several chases, the triumphant cub returned to check in with mom and receive some grooming, and then the cub returned the favor, as you see here.  The entire sequence was a thrill to experience, and this grooming moment was a nice, concluding scene.
